When our nervous system is dysregulated with ongoing stress (even if it is low level) - we're essentially in 'flight or fight' mode, and this can impact every system in our body, quite often female hormones can become significantly disrupted.

I have supported many women with hormonal issues; 🩸extremely painful/irregular periods, perimenopause, endometriosis, PCOS with low mood, anxiety and skin breakouts. All of these can significantly impact a woman's quality of life.

Nutritional changes, for example supporting blood sugar balance, obtaining essential & adequate levels of nutrients through food, as well as targeted supplements are effective, but if our nervous system remains on high alert - it will be a struggle for our hormones to be in harmony with nutrition alone.

If our body is in survival mode, believes we are not safe, bodily systems cannot function adequately. This not only affects our hormones, but also gut health, sleep, mood and much more, which are all very much interconnected with each other.

For example;⁣

🔹 Gut health: Chronic stress reduces blood flow to the digestive tract, slows down digestion, alters gut motility, and disrupts the microbiome. This can worsen bloating, IBS symptoms, and nutrient absorption.⁣

🔹 Hormones: High cortisol (your main stress hormone) can interfere with thyroid function, suppress hormones like progesterone and oestrogen, and worsen PMS or perimenopausal symptoms.⁣

🔹 Cognition & Mood: A dysregulated nervous system makes it harder to focus, process emotions, and feel calm or in control. It keeps you in a reactive state, not a healing one.⁣

But when we activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” state), the body can finally begin to repair, balance hormones, support digestion, and restore energy and clarity.⁣

✨ This is why nervous system support and emotional regulation via a somatic modality such as EFT tapping alongside nutritional & lifestyle changes can be so useful and effective in holistic healing when there is hormonal chaos.

✨With this holistic, combined mind-body-nervous system approach, I have seen women see the negative signs of disrupted hormones, such as; anxiety, irregular periods, mood swings, period pain, PMS and acne in both younger and perimenopausal women significantly reduce. They feel empowered and have gained the ability to regulate their emotions and nervous system, nourishing themselves through food, lifestyle changes and EFT tapping.

When the body feels safe, it can heal.⁣

When the mind feels safe, you can thrive.
