EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)
What is EFT?
(Emotional Freedom Techniques) or “Tapping” is a gentle, yet powerful body/mind therapy. EFT involves tapping with fingertips on acupressure or meridian points (energy pathways in the body according to traditional Chinese medicine) on the hands, face and body while focusing (temporarily) upon an issue you wish to resolve. It can dramatically relieve emotional disturbances along with many physical symptoms.
EFT allows us to release negative energy, which is often held in the body as trauma and can be expressed as anxiety, guilt, low mood, fear, or anger. EFT can be used to help transform thoughts and beliefs behind our emotional experiences. It helps address self limiting beliefs, improve self esteem and create a more confident mindset. After just a few rounds of tapping, people often report feeling lighter and calmer and able to breathe more easily. A reframe of the situation or issue can occur quite quickly.
EFT has been evaluated for use in NHS services and is currently being used in NHS treatment centres for chronic pain and to mitigate medication side effects. Numerous published clinical trials show that EFT is effective for treating anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, phobias and pain. It’s also shown to reduce cortisol levels and to improve immune function. Here is a great summary of its benefits and scientific studies which demonstrate it's efficacy. By using EFT, we can reconnect with our innate sense of mental and physical healing and wellbeing. I have witnessed first hand myself, and with clients the amazing and positive effects of EFT, I love to see the emotional and mental shifts that can happen in a very short space of time.
I offer pure EFT sessions, or this can be incorporated into a nutrition and health coaching programme. I have found it is a wonderful tool to maximise improvement with my gut and hormone clients. EFT is also suitable for teenagers and children too. I support children from 10 years and older, it can be very effective with sleep issues, anxiety and exam stress.
